I Find What TV Shows
To Download?
Nowadays I tend to focus on obtaining TV Series as my preferred watching. First I need to see what is available, what are the better rated new shows and when will they be on TV.
I monitor quite a few sites, especially UK Newspaper TV Review pages. There are also a couple of great sites besides newspapers which monitor upcoming new TV Series.
UK New TV Series And Newspaper Review Sites:
2. TV Wise UK: http://www.tvwise.co.uk/ Under the "Premiere Dates" tab is a list of all the new releases appearing on either UK or US TV for the next few months.
3. "The Guardian" newspaper: http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/television+tone/reviews Great for an overall view of that day or that week's TV offerings. (This link updated May 24th).
4. "The Telegraph" newspaper: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/10908196/Whats-on-TV-tonight.html .
5. "The Independent" newspaper: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/reviews/ Overall reviews of recent TV offerings.
USA New TV Series And Newspaper Review Sites:
1. 'What is on' US TV Guide: http://epguides.com/grid/
2. Chicago Sun Times: http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/television/index.html Look for articles entitled "Lori's List" for a summary of what you could be looking out for.
4. The Hollywood Reporter: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/television
5. Metacritic: http://www.metacritic.com/browse/tv/release-date/new-series/metascore Browse all over the Metacritic website for movies, TV shows and for any series which are coming up in the new season. You can select to rank TV Series by viewers' responses or from the point of the professional reviewers.
Current Major Websites I Use For Finding Matroska Files:
Update Sept 2015: Recently several of the free download sites have begun to institute advertising. In some cases it is only possible to get to download links with AdBlock Plus disabled for that site. I do this reluctantly.
When using Firefox and you put in a Captcha number (especially in Rapidmoviez), the page may automatically go to an advert in the same tab window and you are unable to access the "Download Link" after waiting the 40 seconds. This does not occur in Google Chrome, instead the popup advert goes to a new tab. I have added a "Open this page in Chrome" addon to my Firefox. When I am in the Rapidmoviez link site, I get Firefox to open the link in Chrome and then I can download easily.
Or adjust you Firefox Tab Settings.
Google search 'Shaanig' and find more excellent download links for .mkv files.

You never know what you are downloading when installing the 'free' downloader! You get this option at Hugefiles, 180upload and at Billion Uploads and in the future, probably others.

The option should be unticked before you download.
The illustration below is from the 180upload site and shows how the default action is to use 'their' downloader. You should untick/check the "Download faster" box. By leaving the box 'ticked' you are agreeing to download and install their downloader which may have unwanted files included in the download.

Some of the above sites may have movies dedicated to HEVC format Mkv (265) files, others should be Mkv (264) files. Hugefiles and Clicknupload are two of the faster 'free' download links to use. Ensure you have adblock etc installed on Firefox.
This site is worth a good look around as well, especially for mkv movies. http://www.shaanig.com (especially 'his own files' at HERE). But check the whole site out closely.
Do a Google Search for "free download mkv" or "Micromkv alternatives" and see what you come up with. The sites below still work with reasonably quick free downloads. You may need a little 'trial and error' to determine the free quick download links.
(Update Dec 2015) Google Search HEVC Movie Downloads and you will find quite a few sites which specialize in HEVC movie format. There are many more versions of movies in matroska and mp4 formats still but the HEVC is slowly but surely becoming more available,
1. Shaanig: http://www.shaanig.com/ Has lots of files in various formats. There is a small HEVC file dedicated section here as well.
2. Minishares: http://minishares.org/ This site has many adverts and Skip Ad pages. Sometimes there are 3 "Skip Ads" to get to the weblinks. But once you select your weblink the downloads are usually at full speed. Putlocker/Firedrive links are always OK as are Billion Uploads. Zippyshare is slightly slower but retains files better than the others so is most likely to still have older files available for download. All these are free. Usually there is a good wide selection of TV Series from both US and UK. In the past this site has had Hugefiles downloads as well but this is less the case recently.
3. Minirlss: http://minirlss.net/ This site has fewer "Skip Ads" and a great wide selection of TV Series. Putlocker/Firedrive links are always OK as are Billion Uploads. Zippyshare is slightly slower but retains files better than the others. Sometimes files can also be obtained from "Hugefiles". RSS Feed is available for this site.
4. Rapidmoviez: http://rapidmoviez.com/search/x264-RMTeam/releases This is a great site but does NOT specialize in .mkv files. However any file uploaded by mSD or RMTeam will be an mkv file. Many of the movies here can be the .mkv format. The link above goes to Rapidmoviez and does a search for ALL RMTeam .mkv releases. (Jan 2016) Rapidrar is usually a 'pay for' download site but does have a 'free service. Lately (Jan 2016) RapidRar 'free' downloads has been slowed considerably. The free option 180 Downloads has been removed and replaced with Hugefiles. I have had great success and relatively fast downloads using Hugefiles. I suggest you register on Hugefiles but still use the Registered free download option.
(Update Dec 2015) Rapidmoviez has a dedicated HEVC file section for TV shows and are released by RMTeam. As the picture below shows from the Rapidmoviez website HEVC files can be found by clicking on the RMTeam Releases x265. The RMTeam Releases x264 will take you to the regular matroska 420p downloads.
5. TV Release: (Update April 2016) TV release has returned! http://tv-release.net/index.php MsD files are usually found here as well. They do have x265 (HECV) section as well but it isn't incorporated fully into the TV-Release Search Engine. But try this: http://tv-release.net/?s=x265&cat= which is the Search results page for 'x265'

RSS Feeds are available. http://www.tfpdl.me/ , http://www.ddmkv.me/category/tv-shows , are a couple of other links worth considering.
In some cases you may need to 'register' to access files at some of the above sites. I suggest you have a specially created email address for this (e.g. Outlook or GMail). Don't use your primary email address as this could leave you open to abuse.
Download sites (especially the free ones) tend to come and go. They may change their requirements for downloading. As of mid July 2015 my preferred free download sites are Solidfiles, Hugefiles, ZippyShare and ClicknUpload. (Note ZippyShare has a file size limit so you may need to download 2 ZippyShare files to combine into a single file)
At the time of writing the sites recommended (HERE) were the preferred options. As one site goes, another 'free' option seems to come along and take its place. A little 'trial and error' may be required as current recommended sites lose favour or change their access requirements. You will find a list of the free download sites under the "Other" Tab.
